This is a continuation of my thoughts on longer lenses with landscape photography. There are many ways to communicate with with a picture and your intentions can influence your lens choice or your lens is going to help decide what you are communicating. It doesn’t occur to everyone that you can use a long lens for landscape photography.
The first image was taken with the Nikon D850 and Nikkor 80-400mm at 400mm to isolate the barn and tell the story about the barn. The texture in the old boards was interesting to me. This barn wasn’t built yesterday.
The picture with the wider view tells the story of the place and it says Palouse. This was also taken with the Nikkor 80-400mm. The lines in the fields and the line on the golden hill draws your eyes to the barn which honestly doesn’t need any help because its a red barn. It stands out.
