The unique benefit of going to Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge is the awesome New Mexico sunrise and sunset color with the snow geese and sandhill cranes. My favorite thing to do is to capture birds in flight as the come in to the corn fields or ponds where they hang out in great numbers. With the number of birds, the opportunity for flight shots is all around you and gives you the opportunity to find the gesture you are looking for. Using Nikon’s Auto Area AF feature, getting birds tack sharp is a snap even at slower shutter speeds. Captured with the Nikon D5 and Nikkor 800mm.
