Egrets were nearly hunted to extinction because of their feathers. During mating season, I think that the great egret has the most fascinating ritual. They also put on one of the best displays with their plumage. The egret will preen its feathers and then flail their plumes as they point their head skyward. With the right background, you can makes those plumes pop. Shot with the Nikon 600 with 1.4x teleconverter at f5.6.
