As is usual getting to Alaska, it was an adventure. 4 planes, a couple of hotel stays later, we were finally at the Rohrer Bear Camp on the Uganik Bay on Kodiak Island. We were fortunate to have great weather and a pleasant float plane ride over the island. As soon as we had landed, we were out on the skiff boats headed up the Uganik River looking for the Kodiak Brown Bear. Not two turns in and there was one in the grass.
There will be many photos to follow but this was a great start to a promising trip with the Kodiak Brown Bear. Taken with the Nikon D6 and Nikkor 180-400mm with both the built-in TC-14 and external TC-14E III at 800mm.
