The other day when I was in Delray photographing birds, I ran in to a friend that there was a new wildlife management area near Fellsmere, FL that was great for birds. The county recently designated part of it a protected rookery for roseate spoonbills.
I decided to check it out to get a lay of the land and the best times of day to utilize the light. I was happy with the variety of birds I saw there including egrets, herons, grackles, wrens, osprey, and in my walk over 40 alligators. The pIace is huge with miles of trails.
I think this will become a popular bird photography location and look forward to shooting there when the migrations and nesting season starts. The common grackle was taken with the new Nikon D6, Nikkor 800mm with TC-1.25 teleconverter.
