This was our first day back in Kodiak for Spring 2024. Our flights in were uneventful (which is good). We arrived to camp in Mush Bay welcomed by rain and low light. While we were waiting for the tides and the weather to break, 9 eagles perched around us in the trees trying to get to the offal pile from a bear that was being skinned in camp. We took advantage of the flybys and great light. My friend Carol was standing right next to me and got the exact same shot, gesture, wing placement…! Mine was taken with the Nikon Z 9 and awesome Nikkor Z600mm f/4 TC VR S. Carol was using the Nikon Z9 and Z600 f/6.3 VR S.
