We were at Winterberry at Sax Zim Bog, coming back to photograph the barred owl. He was there because there were many smaller birds going for the feeders he could take advantage. We had both the hairy and downy woodpeckers by the dozen. The birds are acclimated to all the photographer around so they had no problem approaching us near the feeders. I took the opportunity of using the Nikkor 180-400mm with its really short minimal focusing with the Nikon D5 to grab some head shots of the woodpeckers.
