While there was an abundance of pine siskens coming in to the trees and perches at the ranch, we would get the occasional red breasted nuthatch. They are cool in that they seem to run along tree trunks and branches at any angle, even straight down. Their agility makes them fun to try to photograph and find that gesture. Anytime one would show up on a perch, someone would quietly yell, nuthatch!. This guy was photographed giving me the eye with the not so new now Nikon D6 and super sharp Nikkor 180-400mm with internal teleconverter activated as well as my Nikkor TC-14EIII. I got mine at Bedford Camera.
