Wakodahatchee – It’s Back!!!

Cattle Egret

One of my favorite birding spots in South Florida has been closed since the beginning of COVID. This past weekend Wakodahatchee Wetlands has reopened. It’s back!

What I love about this place is that there are tree islands that are level with the boardwalk that put the birds right at eye level. There are plenty of opportunities to get a great background. And depending on morning and evening, the boardwalk is situated to make the best use of the light.

Right now we have about 250 ibis and 50 cattle egrets in the trees fighting for space. In this photo, two cattle egrets fight for a branch in a tree. I guess the hotel will be full for tonight. Taken with the Nikon D6 and Nikkor AF-S 180-400mm f/4E TC1.4 FL ED VR.
