While this image isn’t what I would say tells about the Palouse (maybe I will give it to one of my cell tower friends), it does demonstrate an easy way to get a starburst in a photograph without resorting to pot-processing and using Luminar. Taken with the Nikon D850 and Nikkor Fisheye 16mm, the “squeeze” process (as we call it) is simple. Underexpose the scene and set your aperture to f/22. My exposure was -2.7. To get the starburst, you “squeeze” the sun against an object like a tree, a building or in this case a cell tower. Easy with one click and moving just a few dials instead of creating layers and manipulating the photo with post-processing.
